SWE-agent
Autonomous Software Engineering Agents
SWE-agent lets language models use tools autonomously to fix issues in real GitHub repositories, find security vulnerabilities or perform custom tasks. The project comes from researchers at Princeton University and Stanford University. According to its README, SWE-agent has been superseded by the leaner mini-swe-agent, which is recommended for new projects.

SWE-agent is a single coding agent and only receives maintenance.
Good fit if
Focus: Software engineers, researchers, and developers who want to use autonomous agents for software development, cybersecurity, or solving GitHub issues.
- your project is about Automated bug fixing, Code repository analysis or Software engineering research
- someone on your team writes code
Probably not if
- nobody on your team writes code (1/5 for use without developers)
- your team is just getting started with agents (skill level: Advanced)
- there is little time for training (learning curve: steep)
